Jammu, Apr 6 : Alleging the police highhandedness, the mother of Simbal Camp gang war victim today appealed for justice as she alleged DySP concerned is giving free hands to the assailants who stil are evading their arrests.
While addressing a press conference here at Press Club of Jammu, Gyan Kour, mother of Gurpreet Singh, (who was attacked on March 21 by a party led by Dilbagh Singh and his accomplices), said that they (family) is living under a constant fear psychosis as, the DySP concerned, Harjeet Singh is shying to arrest the accused.
"Those who attacked my son are roaming scot free,", she said, adding, "they (accused) are intimidating my son of dire consequences but police have maintained a criminal silence."
Alleging police inaction, she said that police have failed to secure a single arrest in this case despite the lapse of over 15 days of attack when his son and his cousin brother was attacked by a party of Dilbagh Singh in broad day light.
According to Gyan Kour, the party of Dilbagh Singh is openly selling narcotics and drugs in the Simbal Camp area but under patronage of some black moles within police.
Further alleging that criminals-police nexus is giving re-birth to criminal activities in the area, she said, "they (aggrieved family) have made several requests to DySP regarding the intimidations by the opposition party but he never took them seriously reasons better known to him."
"The accused are already involved in number of crimes and are facing serious allegations but why police yet have not arrested them,' she asked.
Kour had also filed a written complaint with the DIG, Jammu, Ashkoor Wani, who had directed SSP Jammu to initiate action against the rival party but according to her, the DySP concerned is shielding the criminals.
Finding no way to get justice, she appealed to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and DGP K Rajendra of providing a security cover to her family as according to her, the rival party can eliminate her son anytime. Pertinent to mention a gang of criminals Dilbagh attacked one Gurpreet Singh and his cousin with sharp edged weapons and a revolver leading to injury to duo on March 21 resulting death of Gurpreet Singh.
