Residents of Rajouri suffer due to ongoing strike of PHE workers | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Apr 10: The ongoing strike by the Daily Wager Workers of Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) has affected the water supply in many parts of Rajouri district and the inhabitants have been facing many hardship in getting drinking water. The inhabitants of Dassal area, one of Rajouri Municipality Ward, are without PHE water supply for the last more than 27 days and especially women facing many problems in collecting water from far away natural resources after covering long distance. Prem Kumar, president Daily Wager Association (DWA) Sunderbani has said that they will not resume their duties till the department fulfil their genuine demands. Daily W agers have been demanding regularization of the services of those employees who have completed seven or more years in the service, release of their 30 months pending wages. "We have been facing many hardships including meeting our daily expenses, in submitting school fees etc in the absence of our wages" said Naresh Kumar daily wager. For the last more than 27 days the inhabitants of Dassal and adjoining areas have been complaining about the shortage of safe drinking water but the concerned officials seems to be in no mood to mitigate the problems of the people by sending permanent employee in place of daily wagers. People in Nowshera, Manjakot, Thanamandi , Kotranka have also been complaining about non-supply of drinking water by the Pubic Health Engineering (PHE) department. |
