For BJP, NIT students are ‘mob’, ‘directionless’ | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 10: For the self styled ultra nationalist Bhartiya Janta Party and its ministers in J&K Government, the agitating non-local students of NIT Srinagar are `directionless' and `mob'. In an attempt to mislead the party high command and top RSS functionaries, who had snubbed a senior minister for his insensitiveness towards the brutal Police lathicharge on the NIT students, the State unit BJP leaders are now projecting the victims as trouble makers. These BJP leaders are dubbing the agitating students as `directionless' and `mob' who are not clear about their demands and issues. The party leaders are learnt to have also conveyed the high command that some vested interests among the NIT students were trying to give patriotic colour to their personal and academic issues and visiting campus at this time would only encourage such elements. Instead of coming forward in support and rescue of these non-Kashmiri students, who are being victimized only because of their patriotism, the BJP leaders are allegedly trying to create a wedge between them. This was the reason that instead of meeting them all, selected groups of students were taken to the residence of a senior BJP minister and impression was created that all the issues have been sorted out., sources explained. However, on the other hand, people of Jammu as well as other parts of the country are subscribing to the views of NIT students and support for them is increasing day by day. Besides, a strong wave of resentment against the BJP for its insensitive attitude towards the NIT students is swaying everyone and the same is evident at social media. Meanwhile, sources disclosed that a number of BJP supporters, particularly youth and students, are contemplating to quit the party due to its double standards on nationalism and a formal announcement in this regard is likely to be made soon. |
