'BJP can't fool people of Jammu, refugees' | Laughable political resolution | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 10: The J&K BJP executive committee met at Eden Garden, Jammu, for two days and also passed a political resolution. The resolution was nothing but a desperate attempt of what is being dubbed as "unscrupulous and Kashmir-centric" BJP leadership to mislead and hoodwink the people of Jammu province and refugees of all varieties it houses. The resolution, which was released to the press on Saturday, among other things, talked about delimitation commission, reservation of some seats for the refugees from POJK, citizenship rights for West Pakistan refugees, Custodian Department and parity between the Jammu-based SC and ST communities and their counterparts in the rest of the country. It said the BJP stood committed to what it had solemnly pledged during the 2014 election campaign. The humiliated people of Jammu region will not trust the BJP any longer. For, it subverted the Jammu's mandate even before becoming part of the J&K Government on March 1, 2015. It became part of the coalition government only after throwing into dustbin its Vision Document, which had been released to the press in the middle of the election campaign. The agenda of alliance that the BJP agreed to adopt for the formation of coalition government in the state was a complete negation of its own Vision Document and that the Agenda of Alliance was virtually a carbon-copy of the PDP's "Aspirational Agenda". What did the Agenda of Alliance say about delimitation commission, refugees and obnoxious custodian department? There is no reference whatsoever to Custodian Department in the agenda of alliance. Nor did it say that the refugees from West Pakistan will be given citizenship rights and that some seats would be reserved for the refugees from POJK. Regarding these refugees, the Agenda of Alliances it would take care of their "sustenance and livelihood" and nothing more. In other words, it disgraces them. As for delimitation commission it says that the coalition government would "Constitute a delimitation Commission for the delimiting of Legislative Assembly Constituencies as required by law". In other words it says it would be constituted only after 2031 (and that too if the government of the time withdraws the 2002 amendment). Similarly, the Agenda of Alliance is silent about what the BJP's resolution said about SC and ST communities. The fact of the matter is that the BJP has already gone back on its promises in order to stitch and re-stitch an alliance with Kashmir-based party. The BJP must first read the Agenda of Alliance before making any commitment to the people of Jammu region. For, what it said on Saturday find no mention in the Agenda of Alliance. |
