PDP unhappy with BJP over NIT row | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 10: The PDP has expressed its reservations to its alliance partner BJP for stoking the incident at NIT Srinagar in a covert manner. The party has said that the incident being played out as a fight between 'nationalism' and 'anti-nationalism' could affect the alliance, which had already gone through rough patches. The PDP is disturbed by the Trianga yatra which though was not allowed entry in the state. The BJP didn't come in the support of the rally but it was flagged off by the senior BJP leader. The march was owned by Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC), which is currently managed by the Akali Dal-BJP combine. It was only after protestations by the PDP that the BJP didn't oppose the decision to deny entry to the protestors fearing that it could further aggravate the atmosphere. The other reason for the PDP displeasure is the intended visit of actor Anupam Kher to the NIT Srinagar. Though, he was denied entry there but his presence in the city had the potential of making the situation more tense and some say could have turned it into an 'explosive' also. 'The factions and leaders are associated with the BJP. Mufti Sayeed faced similar problems in his initial days of the government and further escalation of the incidents finally resulted in snapping of the ties. The party must understand our senstivities also. Though the BJP this time reacted in a much guarded manner but it has also not approved the activities. The incident at college should have been allowed to handle at the college adminsitration level but it was escalated to such a proportion that few Kashmiri students were beaten up in Rajasthan. It had the pottential of the Udhampur attack in which one Kashmiri truck driver was attacked and he eventually died. Had such incident happened Mehbooba would have called off the alliance at that very moment," said a PDP leader. |
