BJP finally abandons martyr Mookerjee: Hari Om | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 10: Prof Hari On Sunday termed BJP the other face of the pro-autonomy NC and castigated it for imitating Sheikh Abdullah and the ilk to send a signal to the nation that whosoever would try to uphold national cause in Kashmir would be treated like NC treated founder of Jana Sangh Dr Syama Prasad Mookejee after he entered the state in 1953 to hasten the process of J&K's complete integration into India. Prof Hari Om took an exception to the PDP-BJP coalition government's uncalled for and reprehensible move to stop nationalists like actor Anupam Kher and film-maker Ashok Pandit and 150 other activists, including students drawn from 12 states of the Union, to visit NIT Srinagar to express solidarity with the brutalized non-local students. That BJP in its desperate bid to continue to cling to power in J&K hurt the sentiment of Hindus across the nation by disallowing Anupam Kher and Ashok Pandit even to visit their houses and presiding deity of Kashmir Maa Ragnya Bhagwati at Kheer Bhawani Tul Mulla speaks for itself, said Prof Hari Om. "Pre-1953 days are back. BJP, NC and all other Kashmir based outfits, both separatist and mainstream, are on the same side of the fence. The situation under the BJP regime in Kashmir has turned so abnormal that even original inhabitants like Kher and Pandit can't visit Srinagar. BJP has converted Kashmir into an alien country. Its whole conduct is devious. It is disgusting that while BJP has been allowing anti-nationals to wave ISIS and Pakistan flags in Kashmir and organize anti-India events every Friday, it has been doing everything under the Sun to rein in and punish nationalists," Prof Hari Om further said. "They only wanted to reassure the non-local students that the entire nation is with them and that it has taken note of the brutal assault on them by some elements in the police and other rogue and anti-nationals for waving national flag and chanting Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogan and upholding the national cause in Kashmir," said Prof Hari Om, adding that by stopping Kher and Pandit at Srinagar airport on Sunday in the morning and 150 nationalists at Lakhanpur last night, the BJP only exposed itself and its ideological dishonesty and lack of commitment to the nation. Indeed, BJP has caused an affront to the self-respect of the nation, abused thousands of martyrs and insulted its own veterans like Murli Manohar Joshi, who, along with other nationalists, had hoisted national flag at Lal Chowk Srinagar nearly two decades ago. The outraged nation will not forgive BJP like it didn't forgive Congress, which had, like BJP, given unbridled authority to Kashmiri leadership to crush and eliminate nationalists like Mookerjee and convert Kashmir Valley into a one-community region, asserted Prof Hari Om. He added that the latest onslaught on the nationalists will further alienate the nation from BJP, which has already been chaffing and seething with anger because of its highly unsettling policy towards Pakistan and Kashmir, as also because of its policies which are being described by nationalists across the country as patently pro-minority and anti-majority. Prof Hari Om made a passionate appeal to the nationalists in J&K to see through the BJP's sinister game plan and unite to defeat it and similar other outfits which have converted Kashmir into an epicenter of break-India activities. |
