Bijay Charak Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 15: Situated well within limits of winter capital city, Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Gole Gujral mocks at the tall claims made by government in education sector, as the school runs without a Laboratory and computer room for years. Ranjeet Singh, a local said that couple of year back state government had upgraded the school to higher secondary school but essential facilities mandatory for a higher secondary school were not provided. "In the year 2012 state government sanctioned the examination hall building, Laboratory room, Computer room and staff room at an estimated cost of Rs.57.80 lakhs on the demands of locals but astoundingly after four years the construction work of these buildings is still in progress", he said, adding that the delay in completion of these building is due to non release of fund. They further said that more than 300 students enrolled in each year from class IX -XII belong to families from economically weaker sections . The classrooms are sufficient but during exams, in absence of examination hall, regular classes have to be suspended. The students are deprived of computer knowledge because their computer room is not yet constructed. Public Work Department, Junior Engineer Deepak said that almost 90 percent construction work of the building was completed and hoped that within month the building would be handover to school authority. |
