POJK demands azadi from Pak, K separatists for merger with it | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 15: The ignored and marginalized people of Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) on Thursday once again protested against the Pakistani domination and hegemony over them, demanded azadi from Islamabad and shouted pro-India slogans. On Thursday, the real face of Pakistan's duplicity was exposed in a video. People gathered in large numbers and protested against the Pakistani Government in several areas of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. The video showed people of POJK, including youths, shouting slogans seeking freedom from Pakistan and raising pro-India slogans. Reportedly, the POJK residents were enraged over the lack of development and lack of employment opportunities in the area and said that "India is better than Pakistan". Youths from POJK revealed that "they are picked up by the ISI if they refused to join Jihad". The video clearly showed that anti-Pakistan protests are on the rise in the POJK and the Pakistani force using cruel way to put down rebellion in the region. The people of POJK are culturally and ethnically close to the people of Jammu province. They are not ethnically Kashmiri. Nor do they speak Kashmiri language. They speak Pathowari language. The fact of the matter is that they hate the people of Kashmir and there are historical reasons for that. The most important reason is that Kashmiri Muslim leadership never considered them part of the movement on the ground that they were non-Kashmiri people, who had opposed the Kashmiri domination. Very importantly, POJK witnessed anti-Pakistan protests and pro-India slogans at a time when the Pakistan-backed, aided and indoctrinated Kashmiri separatists had engineered anti-India protests and Kashmir had been observing strike since April 12 over the Handwara episode. Kashmiri separatists and their supporters have heightened their anti-India activities and have been attacking the Indian Army and Indian State and demanding merger of Kashmir with Pakistan. It's not a new demand; they have been demanding merger with Pakistan since decades saying Jammu and Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of partition and the Indian presence in Kashmir is illegal. What the Kashmiri separatist leaders, whose number is not even 12, is not something extraordinary. They are mercenaries whose single point agenda is to promote the Pakistani cause in Kashmir and mint easy money. What is intriguing is the attitude of the Kashmiri civil society, which is well read and highly politically conscious. It should have opposed the Kashmiri separatists and exposed their dirty politics. That it has not done so only suggests that it doesn't know what would happen to Kashmiri Muslims in case they became part of Pakistan. There is still time for the common Kashmiri Muslims to appreciate the plight of their co-religionists in POJK and Gilgit-Baltistan and discard Geelani and others of his ilk, who have been leading a luxurious life at their cost. They should also examine the causes which led to the partition of Pakistan and creation of Bangladesh in 1971. They must remember that India is the only country where the Muslims enjoy certain rights which are not available to their counterparts in any other countries of the world, including the Muslim world. |
