Jammu, May 9: The inhabitants of Inhabitants of Wazir Mohallah, Zarger Mohallah and its adjoining areas in Ward No. 02 of Municipal Committee Kishtwar today write a letter to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and seek her intervention in addressing the long pending water crises problem faced by them since last 4 to 5 years, added that the people living in this area of the Kishtwar are suffering for want of drinking water due to the irresponsible & Callous attitude of the PHE department.The angry people laid stress or constituting of a Committee for investigating the utilization of funds by the PHE Department for the last 15 years in the district ,So that it will come to light how much funds has been released and out of which how much is properly utilized for the welfare of people.
As per the detail draft of the complaint available "Early Times", they sated that the department is not providing the proper supply of drinking water to them and even is not bothering to redress their grievances regarding the proper supply of water,
"The main pipes which are almost 15-20 years old from Qilla Reservoir (Astaan Balla ) to our Mohalla are blocked at dozens of points, due to which we are not receiving the drinking water to satisfy our minimum need. It is very surprising matter that despite of dozens of Verbal/ Written requests, department is silent on our issues as they are treating us in a casual manner. Even our representations have been thrown into dustbin like rubbish and RTI Petition has been replied in the misleading way" said local inhabitant Shahnawaz Kotwal.
People in its complaint stated that the department is receiving Funds worth lakhs of rupees for the maintenance, replacement of old pipes, removal of stoppages, Cleaning of reservoirs but such fund is not properly used in the interest of public which fact can be also seen from the move able & immovable properties accumulated by the officers of the PHE department added that there are dozens of Illegal water connections in the whole district but department never tried to get them either legalized or disconnected. They said that there are some areas where water get wasted into drains due to surplus supply by the department whereas some areas are not getting water to satisfy their minimum needs.
They urged upon Chief Minister to kindly issue strong directions to the concerned authorities of PHE department Kishtwar to with regard to change all the old pipes from Qilla Reservoir up to their locality, disconnect all illegal Connections & provide supply of water on daily bases for at least One & half hour or at least 3 hours, if with one day break.
