Water crisis deepen in 3 BJP ministers' constituencies | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 9: Acute scarcity of water has exposed tall claims of the BJP ministers of taking serious steps to solve day today problems of the residents of their respective constituency. Although entire Jammu province is confronting with the problem of non-availability of potable water, constituencies of three important ministers are worst affected where all natural resources have dried up and most of the water supply schemes have become defunct. Media reports from Kathua indicate that residents of mountainous belts of this district are facing worst ever water crisis this year and non-availability of drinking water has added their woes. Reports said that water crisis have taken serious turn in Billawar and Basohli. Leaders of both constituencies are busy in doing politics in the capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar respectively but their poor voters are struggle to get even a bucket of drinking water. Reports emanating from rural areas of these two constituencies depict a very dangerous picture because in the first week of May most of the water resources have dried up and rationing of the water has started to save people from starvation. Shockingly crores and crores of rupees have been spent on these two constituencies to supply drinking water to the people but nothing has been done on the ground. Most of the water supply schemes are running on the papers but on ground these schemes are defunct and those who have been at the helm of the affairs have never tried to where money has been gone. Raipur-Domana is another constituency which is badly affected due to non-availability of drinking water. Upper reaches of this constituency are gripped with acute scarcity of water and officers of the PHE Department have maintained a deaf ear and blind eye towards miseries of these poor residents. |
