Separatists desperate to vitiate peace | ‘Govt’s soft policy encouraging trouble mongers’ | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 9: The attempt of separatists to flare up the situation in Kashmir over the issue of setting up the Sainik colonies in the Valley couldn’t yield the desired results as the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday set the speculations to rest by stating that no such proposal is on cards and if the land is allotted it would be given to the soldiers hailing from Jammu and Kashmir. Separatists, who wait for a chance to foment trouble in Kashmir at the behest of their masters sitting in Pakistan, during the past two days issued “inflammatory statements” and threatened of dire consequences if government goes ahead with its plan to set up Sainik colonies in Kashmir. They made every possible attempt to vitiate peace before reopening of Durbar in Srinagar “Since the day PDP-BJP government has taken oath for the second time, separatists are making desperate attempts to vitiate peace in the Valley. Soon after the government was formed separatists left no stone unturned to turn NIT issue into a big controversy and made every possible attempt to target non-local nationalist students, who raised the tricolor and staged pro-India demonstrations in the den of separatists,” said, an analyst. ”After the NIT incident they (separatists) gave back to back shutdown calls to stir the hornet’s nest after leveling the false molestation allegation against the Army in north Kashmir’s Handwara area. The violence that followed the false allegation led to the killing of five people,” he added. He said, “It has been proven beyond doubt that separatists are paid agents of Pakistan and they receive money through Hawala channels to keep the pot boiling. They launching anti-India tirade is no secret. Their only job seems to foment trouble and set Kashmir on fire. At present they are trying their best to ruin the tourist season in Kashmir and are trying to utilize each and every opportunity for it.” A Kashmir watcher said, “It’s high time for the state government to give up its soft policy towards separatists and separatism. The state and central government needs to devise a firm policy to curb separatism and the separatists once for all. They can be easily booked for sedition and put the behind the bars like Masrat Alam, who was the mastermind behind 2010 unrest. If government fails to act there is every possibility about separatists vitiating the peace and creating unrest. One fails to understand why government is afraid of them and whom it wants to appease by giving them a free hand.” A source said, “Separatists have asked their henchmen to orchestrate stone pelting and street protests whenever they get a chance and provoke the forces to retaliate. Forces in Srinagar have been put on alert and have been asked to exercise restraint to avoid any killings asseparatists are searching for dead bodies to flare up the situation.” |
