Urdu teacher in Govt schools demanded

Kathua, May 23: Despite of having Urdu as official language in J&K state, there are hundreds of schools are without Urdu teachers resulting stagnation in job avenues for aspirants of Revenue, Police , Judiciary and other department. Students of Government primary and High School Kanha Chak, Zone Marheen today raised their voice against negligence in the part of J&K government.
Preeti devi, a student of 10 class informed that there are 70 students in the school who had opted for Urdu subject wherein large number of students belong to Islam Community. She said they are badly suffer due to unavailability of Urdu teacher in the school whereas demand has been raised in number of times but nothing has been done by Chief Education Officer Kathua and Director School Education Jammu to redress their long pending demand.
Muzzamal Hussain, another student of 9th class had similar views and added that shortage of Urdu language teacher affect the percentage in previous years and if the department fails to provide teacher, they shall not get good percentage in board classes. He said being a mother tongue and official language government must provide teacher in each school as most of the students in Marheen zone belong to Muslim community.
Ghanshyam Sharma demanded implementation of Urdu as compulsory subject in government and Private schools as being an official language it must be teach in schools on priority basis. Sharma said the language is being used in government offices especially Revenue, Police, Judiciary but at ground level there are few who have knowledge of foremost language in plain areas of Jammu province resulting feeling helpless/illiterate while dealing official works.
It is relevant to mention here that many social organizations and NGOs also put out the same demand before CEO Kathua who instructed Private schools to provide Urdu teachers but failed to provide in government schools.
When contacted to ZEO Marheen Balbir Singh, he accepted the sufferings of students due to unavailability of Urdu teachers in schools. He informed that he has no Urdu teacher in Zone Marheen to redress the demand but ensured to ask CEO Kathua to deploy Urdu teachers from other zones to Marheen zone.
Earlier Headmaster of High School Kanha Chak accepted the suffering of 70 students in his school due to unavailability of Urdu teacher. He appealed CEO Kathua to provide the teacher.
