Moviegoers cheated in Wave Mall | Eatables sold on exorbitant prices | | Early Times Report jammu, May 23: Despite directions by the Consumer Court against fleecing the moviegoers, management of the cinema halls of Wave Mall continue to over-charge from consumers on variety of eatables being sold outside these halls. Shockingly, neither Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department nor other monitoring agencies have taken note of the cheating with the consumers going unabated in the Wave Mall. More importantly, movie lovers, who go to watch movies in cinema halls of Wave Mall are forced to purchase eatable and soft drinking on very higher prices because consumers are not allowed to take even a toffee with them inside the premises. Cinema halls of wave mall are notorious for over-charging charging consumers top dollar for concession items such as popcorn, cold drink or other eatable items. How can the food outlets these cinema halls charge exorbitant rates (100+ rupees) for food items that cost much lesser, like popcorn and a bottle of soft-drink?, this is the bigger question before authorities. Moviegoers of the view that they are ready to pay some additional price but it does not mean that popcorn priced at Rs 10 at railway station or anywhere else, suddenly becomes worth of Rs 75 at wave mall cinema halls. They said there must be some limit of profit. Similarly eatable items are also charge exorbitant because authorities have never bothered to look into the rate list of these outlets. Price monitoring authorities must visit these outlets to protect rights of the consumers and moviegoers because due to their monopoly these outlet owners are looting the moviegoers. |
