Ministers Prefer power brokers over MLAs | After Sharma, more BJP MLAs ready to target party ministers | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 23: Anger shown by Akhnoor MLA, Rajeev Sharma against discrimination with Jammu by the PDP-BJP government during District Development Board (DDB) meeting on Sunday is a warning signal for the BJP leadership because the legislators had given vent to his resentment after facing intense pressure from the voters of his constituency. Majority of the BJP legislators are facing pressure from their voters, who had voted BJP with a hope that their dignity and honour would be restored besides solution of their day today problems. The BJP ministers in the coalition have so far failed to come up to the expectations of their voters. What to say of minimizing miseries of the people, the casual approach being adopted by these ministers has further compounded woes especially in the on-going summer season when temperature is hovering between 40 to 45 degree Celsius. Rajeev Sharma before boycotting DDB targeted a senior BJP minister and others for ignoring Jammu in distribution of funds. And more importantly, the senior BJP minister, who was chairing the meeting, could not pacify annoyed legislator of his own party, who had raised very valid and logical questions. The senior BJP minister and others, present in the meeting, failed to give any convincing reply to the queries raised by party legislators. Credible sources in the BJP said that outburst of Rajeev Sharma is just a beginning because almost all party legislators, who are not part of the ministry, are finding it difficult to control their anger because party ministers have failed to address grievances of the people. These days Jammu region is confronting with unprecedented power crises and acute shortage of drinking water. And instead of taking emergent steps to minimize woes of the people, BJP ministers are busy in holding meetings in the air-conditioned rooms. Common people are approaching their MLAs to solve their problems but there is no one in the party to listen to these MLAs. The ministers are inaccessible to even party MLAs but to say of common masses. Fed up with the arrogant behaviour of the inaccessible party ministers, anger brewing among BJP legislators and it could be burst any time. Rajeev Sharma's out-burst is only a beginning because majority of MLAs share similar feelings and they are waiting for a chance to take on the BJP ministers head on. |
