BJP MP allocates funds to construct hall for religious functions | MP fund diverted to appease blue-eyed political workers | | A B Sharma Early Times Report Sunderbani, May 23: Development funds have been allegedly misused in Sunderbani tehsil of Rajouri district in violation of norms, sources told Early Times on Saturday. They said, a Member Parliament recent released Rs 10 lakhs to construct a congregational hall for holding religious functions. This, according to the sources, has triggered a controversy as CDF funds are used only for development works and not for construction of religious places . As per the guidelines set in the MP funds, it is clearly demarcated that no funds from the MP or MLA quota could be released for any religious constructions, but for the funds released to the amount of Rs 10 Lakh from the Jammu-Poonch constituency of BJP MP contains a stricture to construct a hall at Nala Makol of tehsil Sunderbani to conduct the religious functions. The release of the funds is done through the District Commissioner's office which approves the works and directs the concerned Block Development Officer who in turn forwards it to the Saprpanch of the area. The Sarpanch is bound to call for a resolution in this regard and constitutes an officiating person on whose the money is transferred to conduct the work. In the case of Nakla Makol, the MP fund that was released to the tune of Rs 10 Lakhs went through the official procedure and Sarpanch Teerath Ram was asked to get the work executed. Sources said that before the Sarpanch could have assigned the work to the executing agency, a directive came from the senior BJP leaders to assign the construction works to the BJP worker and not to the person designated by the Sarpanch. Sarpanch Teerath Ram while talking to the Early Times said that he was pressurized to assign the work to a particular BJP worker. The people of the area who were witness to all these developments were of the opinion that since the construction of the hall was of upto the tune of Rs 10 lakh , the entire hall was constructed using the low quality material and was completed within the amount of Rs 4 to 5 lakhs only. Though the Sarpanch said that he had no details of the constructions cost, but the papers available with Early Times have the tampered details of the money spent on the project which adequately indicates the money has been siphoned off by the BJP blue eyed workers while constructing the hall by using sub-standard material. |
