PDD charging flat rate from Govt schools in absence of 'legal' connections | | | Early Times Report
jammu, May 23: Most of the government schools/ education offices in Rajouri district don't have proper/legal Electric connections and the Power Development Department (PDD), according to Education officials, has been charging excess amount than the actual utilization of electricity in these government educational institutions. For the last many years PDD has been demanding payments of electricity bills but the education department has failed to pay owing to reason of is insufficient funds. "The funds allotted for the payment of electricity bills of many government schools are too less than the amount of the electricity bills sent by the PDD officials" said a senior officer of Education Department. on promised anonymity, he said that higher authorities have directed all the heads of the Education Institutions to use electricity as per their requirements. "To stream line the system and to keep check on the utilization of electricity by the educational institutions, Director Education, Jammu has ordered to install electricity meters, he added. "The sanction/ release of funds for electricity used by the educational institutions shall be made for the years 2016-17 only to those institutions which would have installed the electricity meters," said Ch Altaf Hussain , Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri. Vide an order dt 22/5/2016, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) has directed all the heads of educational institutions/ offices to install electricity meters in their respective institutions/offices immediately with intimation to his office. Meanwhile sources within department said that government educational institutions/ offices owe lakhs whooping amount as the electricity bills sent by the PDD against Flat Rate because maximum institution don't have electricity meters installed till date. |
