Early Times Report
Jammu, May 23 Members of Gujjar community have filed a police complaint against forest minister Choudhary Lal Singh, alleging therein that he misbehaved and threatened them but Singh today refuted the allegations.
"We have received a written complaint from some Gujjars and the SHO is personally investigating the case", a police officer said.
Station House Officer (SHO), Gandhi Nagar Police Station, Bishnesh Kumar admitted having received the complaint and said it was under investigation.
The Gujjars in their written complaint to the Gandhi Nagar police station accused the minister during a meeting with theur delegations a few days back of using a bad language and threatening them.
"I am ready to quit politics if the allegations levelled against me are proven right. I never threatened the Gujjars when they visited my residence for getting permission to transport wood loaded in trucks from the forest area", Singh told reporters here today.
Singh said that he neither abused nor misbehaved with the delegation of Gujjar community that had come to meet him.
"It is a conspiracy hatched against me by some vested interests who are running mafia by smuggling forest wood and making handsome money. After taking the charge as Forest Minister, I have tightened noose against mafia comprising politicians, officers, police", he claimed.
Singh said that he made a reference to temperature by stating that while the temperature outside has crossed 47 degree centigrade, Gujjars were seeking permission to transport trees cut by them.
"I told the delegation that forests in the state are on fire as the temperature has crossed 47 degree and it was so hot. I don't know how they have alleged that I threatened them by saying AK 47 or 1947", Singh said.
