Sweets shop owner booked for violation of market practices | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 24: Prompted by complaints that a reputed sweet shop at Lal Chowk area is indulging in short-weighment by considering the weight of box with weight of sweets, a team of officers of Legal Metrology conducted surprise inspection of the sweet shop and it was found that shop keeper was delivering one kilogram of Kaju Barfi along with the weight of box. A spokesman of the department said that the weight of empty box was 125 grams. The consumer had paid Rs 600 for the Kaju Barfi and he has been charged for the box at the rate of Rs 600 per kg weight. The erring trader has delivered about 100 gram less to the consumer. The authorities have fixed rate per kg for net contents. "The challan case was registered against the trader. A penal sum of Rs10, 000 was slapped on the sweet shop for the lapse and undertaking has been taken from him that he will not repeat such offence in future," said the spokesman. |
