JU harasses low paid, protects high paid employees | | | Raj Sandeep Early Times Report Jammu, June 24: A glaring example set by university administration to pounce upon low paid IV class employees for taking action over trivial and deliberately protecting delinquent senior officers and teachers is ruling the roost under the command of VC. The sources informed Early Times that in the recent past, few IV class employees of the University were subjected to stern action entailing their suspension without wasting time over negligence which came to the notice of varsity administration which seems a routine requirement to tune up the administrative system and also because suspension is not punishment as a matter of fact. Taking a dig on the double yard sticks adopted by varsity administration to coerce low paid employees and coax officers and teaching faculty ,the sources told that during the tenure of incumbent Vice Chancellor, a number of irregularities have surfaced and are on record against some officers and teachers who have so far not been touched by the Authorities nor any official proceedings have allegedly been initiated being close to the corridor of powers in the varsity, they alleged Citing the example of erstwhile Special Secretary to incumbent VC , J. K Sharma, the sources told that he was found involved in library book scam but instead of taking him to task for facilitating financial embezzlement, he was awarded with prize posting as Director College Development Council being a junior most person despite availability of senior and competent officers in the varsity. The matter as of now seems to have been shelved by the administration, sources alleged. In another case of deviation from the established statutory norms , the Controller of Examination Sanjeev Mahanjan failed to ensure declaration of results of university students within 45 days as maximum results were declared beyond the scheduled time frame, the sources said, adding that University administration did not budge an inch to initiate any remedial measures or any action against officer for unknown reasons. On the teaching front, the sources told that the course of political science had to be closed down in mid-session by University Grants Commission due to negligence of its Coordinator Dr. VVV Nagendra Rao in DDE putting distance students in quandary for none of their fault. But due to soft corner for a teacher, varsity did not have the guts to take action against him despite lapse of more than a year and varsity dispensation seems to have spared the delinquent teacher. Similarly the case of two lady teachers in DDE, Dr. Anupama Vohra and Dr. Anju Thapa ,whose case became the talk of the town having indulged into official irregularity with one teacher helping other who was on leave, was advertently put under the carpet by the University to favour these erring faculty members of DDE. Besides no action was taken against Coordinator Economics Dr. Jasbir Singh who committed official lapse for allotting lesson writing of MA Economics for the course not prescribed in the syllabus of semester III and IV. Rather the teacher who wrote lesson was paid out of the way by the University leaving coordinator economics unharmed. Expressing surprise on the self styled working of VC who always poses to be a firm follower of rules and regulations while handling official matters, the sources questioned that if the University Authority were quick enough to initiate action placing all the four IV class employees under suspension on various charges of official irregularities setting an example of good administration in the campus, what hindered the Vice Chancellor to evince his eagerness to take stern action against these defaulters sitting on responsible chairs working under the same administrative control in the University, they blamed ,adding that the administration of justice demands one yard stick to take action as per rules governing the University administration as was done in case of low paid employees. |
