Early times Report JAMMU, June 24. The result on Friday of the historic referendum in Britain on its nearly 43-year-old association with the European Union (EU) has, on the one hand, upset many in Europe, and even in India, and, on the other, disturbed many in Kashmir, who had been questioning the concepts of the state, the nation, the nationality and the borders since almost two decades now and had also been urging New Delhi to render the borders between India and Pakistan and the Line of Control (LOC) irrelevant and porous. Britain was one the most important founders of the EU. The Britons, who exercise their choice between remaining part of the EU and going out of it on Thursday, finally gave a verdict against the EU and the difference between those who voted for and against was about 4 pr cent. In other words, the Britain's referendum went against EU with the British Prime Minister David Cameron today announcing that he would put in his papers before October to pave way for the appointment of new Prime Minister. It is obvious that the referendum result has created a crisis in Britain. However, as for India is concerned, the Britain's exist is India's larger interest. For, it will neutralize those who had been asking the Government of India to adopt a new approach towards the concepts of the state, the nation, the nationality, the borders and the sovereignty to break the so-called Kashmir impasse. They had been - apart from batting for demilitarization, economic independence and so on - vouching for what they called supra-state measures and for a regime which would enable Pakistan to share sovereignty with India in J&K as if J&K was a state like Trieste. The nation needs to appreciate the referendum result, as it will prove a blessing for them.
