ET expose, minister's intervention force DSW to hold of Transfer Melas | | | ET Report Jammu, June 24: For an eye wash, the Director School Education Jammu has asked all the Chief Education Officers to conduct Transfer Melas in their respective districts and conclude the exercise before July 1, 2016 for further action. The order in this regard has been issued following Early Times report on alleged pick and choose in transfers of Teachers/Masters and Lecturers in Summer zone schools in sheer violation of much talked about recent Transfer Policy of the School Education Department. According to the sources, the Minister for School Education, Naeem Akhter took serious cognizance of the ET report and asked the Director to explain the reason behind not conducting Transfers Melas in Jammu and other districts, so far, even as the same were to be held in the month of April- May. Even as the Director sought to give some flimsy reasons, sources said that the minister refused to listen to any excuse and directed for early conduct of the Transfer Melas, as per the laid down norms in the Transfer Policy. Pertinent to mention that the new Transfer Policy for School Education Department was conceived, formulated and announced by none but Naeem Akhter, last year and concept of Transfer Melas was one of the main features of the policy. Though the Transfer Melas are going to be held this week in all the districts following minister's intervention, sources in the School Education Department maintain that there was no fun of doing this exercise at this stage when maximum posts in the city and adjoining areas have already been fulfilled by the Directorate syndicate through pick and choose. The entire exercise is now mere an eye wash and to befool the innocent Teachers/Masters and Lecturers, who have no political backing or the capacity to grease palms of the persons at the helm of affairs, admitted a senior officer of the Education Department. |
