DH Poonch lacks basic facilities, patients face hardships | | | Early Times Report
POONCH, June 24: Even as state government makes tall claims that it is committed to provide better infrastructure at health care institutes across the state, however, lack of basic facilities at District Hospital Poonch deflates such assertions. The patients and their attendants visiting the District Hospital Poonch severely criticized non-availability of various facilities. The water cooler available in the hospital is out of order and even the hand pump water is not accessible to the patients and their attendants. They said that the patients with all types of diseases have to purchase all the prescribed medicines from the openmarket. The hygiene and sanitation in the hospital, it seems that it has not been checked by any senior officer, they added. The dearth of facilities was brought to the notice of Chief Medical Officer Poonch but no attention was paid the difficulties being faced by the patients, they said. Some outsiders who had to visit hospital for minor problems alleged that not even a single medicine or glucose bottle was provided from the hospital though a huge quantity of medicines is being supplied by the government for the benefit of the patients. Even the syringes had to be purchased by them from outside, they said. Chandandeep Singh, Imtiaz Ahmed, Rubina Akhtar and several others while interacting with Early Times reporter said that even the drinking water facility is not available in the hospital premises. |
