Madina bombing unprecedented, most outrageous assault on Islam: Mehbooba | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 5 : Terming the suicide bombing near the Grand Mosque in Madina Munnawarah as the most outrageous and unprecedented assault on the religion of Islam, Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti today said the Muslims across the globe shall have to raise a united voice against the perpetrators of this heinous violence. "The perpetrators have now crossed the last line by attacking the holiest of the places of Islam which has been a source of peace and stability for the humanity for centuries," the Chief Minister said while addressing public gatherings after inaugurating three Community Centres in Safakadal, Gangbugh and Natipora areas of Srinagar city. Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Asiya Naqash and Legislators, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Sheikh Noor Mohammad, Anjum Fazili and Mohammad Khurshid Alam were present on the occasion. The Chief Minister said such atrocious acts of violence contradict all humanitarian, moral and Islamic values and the perpetrators are spreading chaos and anarchy in the Muslim world and making both Muslims as well as other communities vulnerable. "It's heart-rending to see how the holy month of Ramadhan was marked by the worst kind of atrocities in the Muslim world including bloodbath in Iraq, Turkey and Kabul and slaughtering of unsuspecting humans in Bangladesh," she said and added that such attacks are cowardly attempts to spread fear and terror among the people. Mehbooba said the latest attack on the Islam's holiest city has now made it amply clear that there is a larger conspiracy behind these so-called groups who are spreading terror and shedding innocent blood in the name of Islam. "Wherefrom they get so many resources to launch such daredevil attacks on Muslim countries and their citizens," she said and added that cutting across the political divide the Muslims throughout the world will have to join hands to stamp-out this dubious menace of terror from their soils and once again revive the real message of Islam centred around peace and humanitarianism. Seeking people's cooperation in stabilizing peace efforts in Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister said before the deadly monster of violence raises its head again in the State, the people will have to rise and isolate the perpetrators. She said Kashmir has already gone through the worst kind of death and destruction for over two decades and it can't afford to lose another generation to senseless violence. "We are trying to meet the expectations of the people and I need time and your unflinching support in making peace a reality and development a right in Jammu and Kashmir," she said and added that her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had envisioned to restore historicity of Srinagar city and was working tirelessly till his last days towards achieving this objective. "During his brief stint in Government between March 2015 and January 2016, Mufti Sahib extensively toured the Srinagar city around half a dozen times to personally monitor the progress of developmental initiatives in the summer capital," she said. Terming public cooperation critical to good governance, the Chief Minister said the people should become active stakeholders in effective implementation of developmental programmes and also keep a close watch on the quality of works being executed in their respective areas. "Government can't achieve much unless people become equal partners in effective implementation of developmental programmes," she said and added that on the development front the areas of immediate concern for Srinagar city include flood protection, rapid transport, scientific waste management, urban amenities, housing and environment conservation. With a view to decongest the city downtown, she said the government will offer land as equity to develop new housing colonies and townships in PPP mode, especially for urban poor and those belonging to very low-income groups. "I feel the pain confronting people and understand hardship facing them on the housing front. We will overcome the acute shortage of affordable housing colonies in downtown city which is bursting at its seam," she stated. Mehbooba said the government will not hesitate in spending money for creating modern infrastructure in cities and towns and provide best possible facilities to the citizens. "Processes, institutions and resources have been put in place to promote and achieve holistic development of the cities and towns," she said and added that her government is working towards putting in place a new and modern economic and financial structure that would constitute the State's backbone. "We are also working towards developing and implementing strategies that give the State's young people a real chance to find decent and productive work," she said and added that the Government would ensure the State's enterprising young men and women with a broad range of opportunities so that they can develop their potential. |
