Amnesty to stone pelters good, but what about Jammu youth of 2008 stir?
7/5/2016 11:47:20 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, July 5: PDP led coalition government, in which BJP is an important partner, has taken a wise decision to withdraw stone pelting cases against 634 youths of Kashmir Valley on the eve of Eid. This decision is really Eid gift for these youth, who have provided an opportunity by the coalition government to start afresh.
Now it is time for the BJP to adopt similar human approach towards those youth who were booked during 2008 Amarnath Land row. BJP, which is part of the coalition, had promised to get all cases of 2008 Amarnath land row withdrawn but nothing has been done so far. Many innocent youth have been facing cases during the 60 days long historic stir in Jammu region in the year 2008.
Shockingly, BJP which was in the forefront that historic agitation, had promised a number of times, that cases of 2008 agitation would be withdrawn but after attaining power, BJP has forget that promises.
While as number of youth have been facing criminal cases for their alleged participation in the 2008 Amarnath agitation, traders and business community were also not compensated as par the promises repeatedly being made by the self-styled "pro-Jammu" BJP.
While demanding immediate scrapping of cases against the protesters in 2008 Amarnath land row, on the lines of amnesty given to stone-pelters of Kashmir Valley, Union Minister Jitendra Singh on May 1, 2015 had while releasing stone pelters do not forget to release those youths, on whom cases were slapped in 2008 Amarnath land row in Jammu. There are dozens of such youths against whom cases are still going on.
The Union Minister was addressing a gathering of Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) on May 1, 2015 to pay tributes to famous poet and writer Sarwanand Premi, who was killed by militants over two decades ago in the Valley.
Eight years ago, some youths, who came out to hold peaceful protest during Amarnath yatra in 2008, were slapped with FIRs and they are in such a situation that they failed to get the jobs due to those FIRs.
Shockingly state BJP leadership has maintained a criminal silence on those youth who have been still facing criminal cases for the peaceful participation in the Amarnath Land row. These youth are not getting jobs due to cases against them.
