kishtwar, July 5 : Continuing its drive against the drug and narcotics smugglers, the Kishtwar police today arrested one narcotics peddler alongwith the consignment of Charas (cannabis) which was recovered from his possession.
POlice sources said, "Acting on a tip off, a police party of Police Station Kishtwar led by Station House Officer Kishtwar Rakesh Sharma and Sub Inspector Ali Imran under the supervision of SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir arrested a drug paddler alongwith charas.
"The accused has been identified as Farooq Ahmed son of Abdul Khalil resident of Kokarnag Srinagar at present Astan Bala Kishtwar, police sources said, adding, "The accused has reportedly selling the Charas to young boys at various places in Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas.".
Accordingly he was booked under FIR No. 134/2016 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act, police sources said.
Meanwhile locals have appreciated the swift action of Kishtwar police and demanded comprehensive plan to curb the growing drug menace in the District. |
