Early Times Report

poonch, July 5 : Despite tall claims of 'Truly unlimited, truly affordable broadband service', 'Get in touch with your friends ,family all over the world' etc by the one of the biggest Telecom Company of India, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the subscribers across the Rajouri district are riled over poor connectivity be it the cellular or the Internet services.
Accusing the non-accountability, the locals alleged that the majority of Telephone Exchanges at tehsil headquarters are being run by the 'security guards' instead Telephone Technicians.
"Most of the Telephone Technicians in nexus with the higher officials have managed their postings inside air conditioned Telephone Exchange at Rajouri instead working in the field" maintained reliable sources.
They said five employees have been deputed to operate on- off switch in case of power failure (to connect with generator). "But In case of any problems being faced by the subscribers, the officials concerned are just passing the blames to other officials instead mitigating the problem of the subscriber, locals reports said. They said the for more than 7-8 days the internet as well as mobile services remain out of order in month causing inconvenience to the subscribers but the subscribers regularly getting the bills on monthly basis that too inflated to against their usage but there is no one in this department to listen to the poor subscribers.
Here it needs to mention that for the last many days subscribers in Sunderbani and Nowshera tehsils have been facing repeated snapping of BSNL services including mobile and broadband.
In Nowshera tehsil despite physical presence of BSNL towers ,no signal is available in border villages like Lam, Laroka, Jhangar, Bhawani, Kalsian, Mohra Kampla etc situated between 10-30 kilometers from Nowshera town.
Locals lamented when the signals of other private cellular companies are available in these areas , even near Line of Control (lOC) but the BSNL signal remains out of sight on mobiles reasons best known to the department. The BSNL services in Nowshera town are out of reach of the subscribers since Monday. Senior/concerned BSNL officers when contacted continued to repeat the same old excuse -'damages to BSNL cables/OFC.
The officer concerned only swung into action when the subscribers approach Chief General Manager (CGM) or General Manager (GM) at Jammu, otherwise the officials at Rajouri or other parts in the district prefer to spend their time in air conditioned offices/ telephone exchange.
