poonch, July 5 : On the direction of Deputy Commissioner, a joint market checking team continued its drive against erring business establishments and checked the prices and quality of essential commodities particularly, vegetables, fruits, meat and chicken.
During the drive, the erring shopkeepers were booked for different violations including non display of rates lists, use of unauthorized weighing scales, non display of Legal Metrology certificates, sale of packaged goods without declaration, overcharging, use of domestic cylinders for commercial purposes, unstamped meat and unverified weighing scale. A fine of Rs 30000 was also realized from the defaulters on the spot.
The officers of the team directed the businessmen to ensure that the consumers are not overcharged and approved rate lists are properly displayed. Meanwhile the consumers are also to register their complaints if any with the office of Legal Metrology department. |
