Fresh batch of 10000 leave for holy Amarnath, 40000 have darshan so far | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 5 : A fresh batch of about 10000 yatris, including women and sadhus, from different parts of the country today left Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps for the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas. So far about 40000 pilgrims had darshan of the self made Ice-Shivlingam in the cave shrine, about 13000 feet above sea level since the commencement of the 48-day-long pilgrimage from July 2 from both shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam tracks. The yatra was going on smoothly and weather was also pleasant, a yatra official told. Bum Bum Bolay rented in the air as fresh batch of about 5500 pilgrims, including women and sadhus, left Baltal base camp for the cave shrine early this morning. The pilgrims are likely to reach the cave shrine this afternoon after covering the 14-km-long hilly terrain on foot. Meanwhile, pilgrims who had darshan yesterday have also started their return journey through Baltal track early this morning. A fresh batch of 4500 pilgrims also left Nunwan Pahalgam base camp early this morning for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional route. Meanwhile, pilgrims who had night halt at Chandanwari and other halting stations on the traditional track have also started their onward journey towards the cave shrine early this morning. |
