Militant hideout busted in Poonch 7/5/2016 11:05:03 PM Rajouri, July 5: Security forces have busted a militant hideout in Pir Panchal Mountain range in Ratta Chhamb Nar in Surankote of Poonch district and have recovered with 3-AK rifles along with hand grenades and other assorted ammunition. Local defence sources said, "16 RR is operating in the area and its officiating commanding officer received an inputs about the hideout." "Accordingly, a joint search and destroy operation with Special Operation Group of Poonch police was launched at about10 pm on Monday, they said. "The troops after taking every possible security measures reached the targeted in Rattan Chand forest at early hours of today morning about 0600 hrs and busted the militant hideout, they said. Sources said that security forces effected cache of arms and ammunition which included 03-AK rifles (rusted) 09-AK rifle Magazines. 270- Rounds of 7.62 mm and 6 Chinese grenades which were destroyed on the spot in the presence of police. Meantime Lt Col Manish Mehta, Defence Spokesman, Jammu stated the recovery of weapons and ammunition strongly indicates that the hideout had been stocked to cater for militant operations in days to come.
