Inter-state gang of smugglers busted, 2 held with 500 gram heroin | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 5: In continuation drive against drug menace, in District Kathua, the police today arrested two narcotics smugglers in Hisranagar of Kathua and recovered 500 gms (1/2kgs) of heroin worth lakhs in international drug markets. Police spokesperson said, "in view of recent inputs received from different agencies about the desperation of infiltration of antinational elements number of nakas were established on all the infiltration routes as well as on National Highway (NHW)." He said that police party from Hiranagar Police Station during routine checking intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02BM-7880 (pulsar) coming from Jammu towards Punjab. "However the rider tried to escape by breaking the naka but the police party managed to over-power the rider", said police spokesman, further adding that during the question, they disclosed their identity as Navjot Singh (26) son of Amar Singh and Swaran Singh son of Sukhwant Singh both residents of Indra Nagar Miran Sahib Jammu Police further said that during personal checking / frisking one packed rolled with grey colour plastic tape, was found which contained 500 gms (1/2kg). "It has been established that both the riders are Heroine smuggler and they are actives since long. This was their third consignment of contraband narcotic (heroine) being delivered to Punjab (Amritsar) based smugglers, police said. Police spokesperson said, "The catch was made by SHO Hiranagar, Inspector Naveen Angral under the supervision of SDPO Border Dewaker Singh and over all supervision of SSP Kathua Neva Jain. "A case under FIR NO.81/2016 under section 8/21/22/29 Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act stands registered against the accused and further investigations are on. |
