Two drug peddlers held with 48 kg Bhukki, 560 intoxicants

Jammu, July 5: In continuation to the ongoing 'Operation Sanjeevani' a special drive against drug menace, police today claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers alongwith with 48 kg raw poppy straw -Bhukki' and 560 intoxicants at different places in separate incidents.
Police today claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered over 48 kg raw poppy straw and 560 intoxicants from their possession in separate incidents at different places.
Police sources said that on specific information party led by Inspector Ashwani Sharma, SHO Bakshi Nagar and ASI Krishan Chand raised a special naka at Gurah Morh at morning hours and intercepted a car bearing no JKO2J-6672.
"Since the car was jam packed with plastic sacks which raised suspicion and thus was subjected to thorough search, police said, adding, "on search of the car ten plastic sacks containing raw poppy straw (NDPS Substance) weighing 48.1kgs were recovered and accordingly were seized."
Police spokesman that adding that the driver namely Susheel Singh son of Joginder Singh of Lane no. 17 Rajpura was arrested.
In this regard case FIR No. 118/2016 U/S 8/15 Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act (NDPS) Act has been registered and investigation is going on. However, the whole nexus of drug paddlers is being looked into and more arrests are likely to be made.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of DySP Nikhil Rasgotra SDPO West and SP City North Dr. Vinod Kumar.
Meanwhile, Kanachak police have arrested a person and recovered 560 intoxicated capsules from his possession.
Police identified the arrested as Naresh Singh son of Harbans Singh of Mishriwala.
Police said that a case in this connection has been registered under relevant sections of law.
Police further said that questioning of the duo at concerned police stations is on to ascertain other associates of the arrested and their sources from their procure the drugs.
