Official deceit: Fine realized from traders by LMD not deposited in treasury 7/11/2016 11:36:10 PM Early Times Report Poonch, July 11: It may sound bizarre but it is true that in glaring example of loot of state exchequer, the Legal Metrology Department (LMD) team did not deposit the fine realized from erring traders in the government treasury, sources said here today. Sources within department informed that during the month of Ramadan, tehsildar Mendhar and Tehsil Supply officers alongwith sleuths of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) conducted market checking of essential commodities at various places in the district and realized fine from erring traders which was supposed to be deposited in the Government treasury. They alleged instead of doing so the money was distributed among Block Development officers, and Tehsil Supply Officers (TSO) of Poonch while the balance remained with LMD. Sources said that as the Government money kept at personal disposal is sheer violence of service norms and added that it is an indicator that something is going wrong somewhere. They sought the matter to be probed by the concerned higher authorities before it is too late. When contacted, DDC MH Malik told Early Times that Tehsildar Mendhar Salaudin has been directed to submit the detailed report of the money realized from erring traders during the market checking.
