Jammu, July 11: Bleeding the public exchequer due to its utter lack of accountability, the department of higher education has posted three lecturers of Science streams (two Associate Professors and One Assistant Professor) in Government Degree College Paloura for the last three years, while the fact is that there is no science stream in the said college.
If sources are to be believed, there is no infrastructure in Government Degree College Paloura for the science subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, but three teachers (including two associate professors and one assistant professor of Chemistry Botony and Zoology respectively) have managed to escape the transfer orders from city colleges to peripherals getting their orders modified to this college for last three years. Sources further claimed that average salary of an Associate Professor is at around 1 lakh and for Assistant Professor it is at around Rs 70 to 80 thousand per month and these teachers are being paid these fat salaries for sitting idle.
Sources claim that higher officials when contacted about posting of science teachers without science stream state that eventually science stream has to be added in the said colleges and the teachers have been posted to help college authorities in creating the requisite infrastructure. "They however could not explain how fat salaries could be paid to these teachers for doing no work" said an official of the department.
On one hand, there is unaccounted stay of these teachers in the college, on the other, there is acute shortage of staff in peripheral colleges.
As per the website of the College, the college is currently offering courses in English, Education, Hindi, Political Science, Urdu, Sociology, History and Dogri subjects to the students and up to 2010, no enrollment has been done in Dogri Subject and the post for the Dogri subject is also lying vacant.
There are so many city colleges of Jammu region where Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and Lecturers of various subjects are sitting against the posts. |
