CM saddened over civilian killings
Urges security forces to show restraint

Srinagar, July 11: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Monday urged security forces to exercise restraint while dealing with protestors.
Sources said that the CM made a detailed assessment with top officials of the existing situation of valley especially of south Kashmir.
"I want to make it clear that no civilian should be harmed while dealing with law-and-order situations and disproportionate use of force' for crowd control which results in loss of precious lives and grave injuries should be avoided at all costs," sources quoted CM having said.
Urging for calm, sources said that Mehbooba Mufti sought people's cooperation in restoration of normalcy in the Valley.
She also prayed for early recovery of the injured including civilians and the police personnel and asked the health authorities to provide best possible treatment to them.
Sources said that the CM is upset and has said that these incidents come as a major setback to the efforts of the State government in consolidating peace dividends in the state.
The chief minister has also sought the senior citizens cooperation in restoring peace and normalcy in the valley.
The Chief Minister said she wanted to be with the people at this hour.
Sources said that the CM was deeply saddened by the series of unfortunate events which led to the death of young boys. "I never dreamt of facing like this after taking over as the Chief Minister. It is most unfortunate," Mehbooba Mufti said.
While being briefed about the prevailing situation, the Chief Minister said the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) should not remain a mere word but become a potent tool while dealing with law-and-order situations.
