MLCs failed to utilize CDS funds during last leg of their tenure
Ajatshatru, Sheikh Rasool, Magray among worst performers

Jammu, July 11: Several Members of Legislative Council (MLCs), elected as well as nominated had failed to utilize the Constituency Development Scheme (CDS) funds to the tune of several Lakhs of rupees, during their last leg of tenure as legislators.
Worst performers to utilize funds from CDS include Ajatshatru Singh elected member from Jammu province, while Sheikh Ghulam Rasool and Bashir Ahmed Magray both nominated from Kashmir province.
According to the documents available with Early Times, from the elected members from Jammu province Ajatshatru Singh had failed to spend a total of Rs. 25.24 lakhs, while Devinder Singh Rana, Vijay Bakaya and Rajinder Singh had failed to spend amount in few thousands of rupees.
An official of P&DD said that on one hand the elected members have been demanding increase in CDS funds but it was very unfortunate that same legislators were failed to spend the money, meant for developmental works.
Moreover, Advocate Ab. Mujeed Bhat elected member from Kulgam had failed to utilize Rs. 10.36 lakhs from his CDS funds while Aga Syed Ahmad Rizvi had failed to utilize funds to the tune of few thousands.
In the nominated category from Kashmir province, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool had failed to utilize funds to the tune of Rs. 26.478 lakhs while Bashir Ahmed Magray had failed to utilize Rs. 17.41 lakhs besides from Jammu province Amrit Malhotra had unutilized amount of few thousands.
All the unspent balance from the CDS category of former members have now been placed at the disposal of the District Development Commissioners of the respective Nodal districts for the utilization by new elected/nominated members of Jammu and Kashmir province.
The elected members of Jammu province have been given a total of Rs. 27.507 lakhs while a meager amount was given to nominated members, whereas the elected members of Kashmir province have been given a total of Rs. 11.16 lakhs while the three nominated members were given Rs. 43.88 lakhs.
