Contractual lecturers cannot hold on to their posts for ever: HC
7/11/2016 11:45:04 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, July 11: The high court today held that the contractual lecturers could not seek to hold on to their posts for ever.
The court directive came in a petition filed by the contractual (10+ 2) lecturers of school education department, seeking regularisation of their services and a direction to respondents restraining them not to replace them with another set of contractual employees
Deciding 43 petitions, first puisne judge Sudhakar Ramalingam observed that if they were found not to be up to the mark, their continuation would be a question mark and it was for the authorities to decide the best course of action in a non-arbitrary manner.
He observed that if contractual lecturers "seek extension of contracts, they have to make a representation to the authority for considering extension of service and it should be considered on its own merit.
With these observations, the court disposed of all the petitions.
