Hundreds of congress workers carrying play cards in their hands assembled at Press Club Jammu. Amidst chanting slogans against Centre and State Governments for their utter failure to provide adequate security to the Amarnath Yatris, they burnt the effigy of government. Speaking on the occasion Anil Chopra said that peaceful conduct of Shri Amarnath Yatra is the duty of both Centre and State Govt. but it was unfortunate that both the Governments are working directionless and miserable failed to protect the lives and property of the common man and become mute spectators when the thousands of Amarnath Yatris are facing great hardships. He further said that the State coalition government has failed to provide the basic amenities of life such as ration, drinking water and electric power to the people and to divert the attention of the people from these basic issues, this Govt. has done a blunder by bringing amendment No.7 to the State Panchayat Raj Act in order to dilute the powers of the grass root level democratic institution.

The agitated protestors raised slogans against the coalition govt. and BJP in particular and sought adequate security for the yatries several of whom were attacked with their vehicles also having been damaged.
Harsh Dev Singh rebuked the govt. for having failed to respond appropriately to the situation created in the wake of killing of Hizb Commander and the resultant turbulence witnessed in the valley. He regretted that with dozens of people killed, hundreds injured and religious pilgrimage being assaulted, it was virtually a case of anarchy and lawlessness prevailing in Kashmir with no signs of government on the ground. The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (AG) under the leadership of Ashok Gupta took out a procession in Jammu city for initiating the yatra which has been on a halt due to the unfavorable conditions in Kashmir. People await the yatra for an entire year and when the YATRA is in the mood of religious fervor the circumstances in Kashmir are very unfortunate. Death of a militant has griped the entire valley and the person named Burhan Wani who was responsible for multiple deaths has burned the Kashmir even after his death. The Hurriyat who has called for the 3 day bandh has been pushing the youth of Kashmir in to dark tunnel of crime and unlawful activities as they want the youth of Kashmir to remain uneducated so that they can dance on the whims of the Hurriyat as the leaders of Hurriyat has there children's and relatives studying abroad away from all this test one pelting circus.
