Army Commander reviews security situation along Indo-Pak border | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 12: In view of the two major infiltration bids foiled in Kathua and Samba districts, Army Commander of Western Command has visited the Army formations along the International Border in Samba sector here and reviewed the security situation. PRO Defence Jammu Lt Col Manish Mehta said, "Lieutenant General K J Singh, Army Commander Western Command visited the troops engaged in the security of border area in Jammu, Samba and Kathua district today." "During his visit, Army Commander western Command Mr Singh took a stock of the security arrangements in these sensitive areas and complimented the troops in successfully maintaining a high state of vigil against enemy designs, braving the odds of terrain and weather," Col Mehta said "The Army Commander also had a detailed interaction with the ranks and file in one of the forward locations," Defence spokesperson said, adding, "the visiting commander also lauded troopers role in maintaining a relentless high state of alert for the security of border areas and emphasised upon the need to maintain a strong vigil against inimical design of anti national forces." Lieutenant General KJ Singh, during the course of his visit, was accompanied by military commanders from the Rising Star Corps. Pertinently Army Commander's visit came in the wake of two infiltration bids foiled by the Border Security Force (BSF) in Hiranagar of Kathua and Ramgarh Sector of Samba district in Jammu region on July 10/11 and July 9. |
