Early Times Report

Jammu, July 12: Officially state unit of BJP has categorically denied and dismissed as "fabricated, misleading attempts" to defame the party and its leaders by some elements through the misuse of social media, a group within the party has launched a comprehensive campaign against party general secretary Ashok Koul, who is facing criticism for allegedly posting provocative posts on his face book account.
State unit has come out with a clarification that it was fake account in the name of Ashok Koul but detractors in the party have availed this opportunity to settle score with the general secretary, who has been deputed in the party by RSS to strengthen organisation.
Credible sources in the BJP said that a faction with the party has kick started a campaign against Ashok Koul, after his alleged provocative posts on his alleged fake account was surfaced in the social media. On the one hand this group has brought this matter to the notice of the central leadership while on the other hand this faction is also exerting pressure on the administration to take action against Ashok Koul. This group has pointed out that at the time when thousands of Amarnath pilgrims were trapped in the Valley, a leader like Ashok Koul had allegedly posted some provocative comment on the social media.
Officially on Monday, BJP state IT and Social Media Department Incharge, Jaidev Rajwal had asked followers of BJP leaders on social media, including Facebook and WhatsApp, said not to get misled and it is highly condemnable that some unknown person has created a fake account of Facebook in the name Ashok Koul, which incidentally also happens to be name of BJP State General Secretary (Organisation) and the said false rumours without any basis are being attributed to BJP State office bearer.
"Whatever has been posted on Facebook is handiwork of some person who wants to malign the image of the party and its leader," he said. The BJP stated with authority that neither Ashok Koul nor any other leader has been indulging in such irresponsible campaign on social media. It totally deprecates any such attempt which exacerbates already tense situation in the Valley.
