Jammu, July 12: The police department seems to be pursuing its own style of functioning throwing norms to winds.
The records and facts available with the Early Times reveal that certain ambiguous postings of many senior police officials from the rank of Sub-Inspectors to Deputy Superintendents in the department are holding their posts at one stationary point for many years altogether.
"it is not only that these officials alone are holding their respective place of postings in their choice areas, but the personal attendants, private secretaries and other officials of the ranks too are putting along with them in various police departments," said one of the source from the police department .
The sources further divulge that such practice is not limited only to the Police Headquarters (PHQs) or at District police Offices (DPOs), Jammu & Kashmir Armed Police, Traffic Police, Railway, Crime Branch, Technical Wing, Security Wing and Civil Defence, Home Guard & SDRF too is not bereft of it. The obvious reason cited by the sources say that such practices are part of schemes conspired by the department to put stationery their men at places of their interest for years together , some are posted at their places since past more than twenty years , so that these officers could have the insight knowledge of the areas and domains and can make extra bucks from the illegal works conducted in these areas .
"The idea is never to set the system right , but to act liberal for the culprits so that crime remains a part of the area and their monthly commissions intact, the part of the booty going to high officials also ," inform the sources .
In the records available in various police posts in almost all districts of the region there are live examples of Sub Inspectors and Sub Inspectors, Deputy Superintendants of Police are holding the charge of the post for more than 20 years while as the personal attendants, private secretaries in the PHQs, and DPOs are stationery there since last many years .
This has given an apparent reason for all to understand that under the administrative provisions, no official is allowed to stay at a particular place of posting for more than two to two and half years, but the police department's system seems to self -styled and unique of all other cases. |
