Centre talks tough, says those instigating youth for violence won't be spared | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report Srinagar, July 12: Expressing serious concern over the civilian killings in Kashmir valley, the central government Tuesday stated that it won't allow anyone including separatists to instigate youth for violence in the Valley. Reliable sources told early times that most of the senior members of the union cabinet present in the high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi expressed their concern that some elements in Kashmir valley are instigating youth for violence. The meeting was attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh including Finance Minister Arun Jaitley External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar among others. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed for peace and also voiced concern over the incidents of violence in the valley where curfew continued for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday. Sources said that the Prime minister was informed that a handful of people in Kashmir including some separatist leaders were instigating the innocent youth and encouraging them to indulge into the violence. Sources said that Prime minister told the meeting that it pains him to see the youth being misguided and killed. "I appeal to them not to get misguided. We need everybody's cooperation to move forward, to take this country forward," Sources quoting PM having said in the meeting. Sources said that the prime minister was informed that there are also some elements that drive people to hardships through their unlawful activities. "It should not be tolerated anymore and those involved in such acts will have to face action," the members said. Sources said that the meeting decided that anti-India activities would not be tolerated at any cost and urged the Kashmiri youth not to fall prey to nefarious designs of such elements. Meanwhile sources said that the meeting was of the opinion that the Jammu and Kashmir police should take measures to counsel the stone throwers besides asking their parents not to allow their wards to perturb peace. It is to mention here that at least 31 people have been killed in clashes in the Kashmir Valley in violent protests that broke out following the killing of a top militant commander last Friday. |
