Early Times Report JAMMU, July 13: The State Government, acting on the directions from Ministry of Sports, through an order issued yesterday has removed the Secretary, J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC), Jawaid Ahmed Shah from the important post. As per the order, the outgoing Secretary has been advised to report at the General Administration Department (GAD), reliable sources told SAN. And, to fill the vacancy, one of the members of the JKSSC, Wahid Parry has been given the charge till the permanent arrangement is made. Interestingly, after showing doors to a close aide of former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the Government has appointed a full time politician as head of the autonomous sports body in the state. Wahid, who is Youth PDP president, has little sports background. However, an existing member of the Sports Council, who has been made member in Sports Journalist category, admired Wahid as 'dynamic leader' in a news item uploaded on his web page. He went to the extent saying, "Waheed Para played a strategic role in PDP's victory in 2014 and has also remained political analyst to ex-CM, Mufti Sayeed." However, he forgot to provide details of Wahid's contribution towards sports and its upliftment though latter has been made member of the JKSSC in the category of 'Sports Promoter'. Important to mention here, the Constitution of the JKSSC has laid down the procedure of appointments with regard to posts of Secretary and Joint Secretaries in the sports body. "Only general house, chaired by president and Chief Minister, Mehbood Mufti and attended besides others by vice president (Minister for Sports), has got the powers to make appointments to the top posts of Secretary and Joint Secretaries," said a senior and seasoned member of the JKSSC. |
