BDO Pouni treats people as pony | | | A B Sharma
Early Times Report
Reasi, July 13: The Government officials in any administrative department as per the constitution of the state and country are defined as government servants meant to serve the people; But for the Rural Development department in Reasi district, a BDO is his own master. The evident example of such demeanour is of the Block Development Officer in tehsil Pouni who claims to be saving his job only by attending to the services of the MLAs and Ministers while leaving the public in the lurch. The BDO Aftab Ahmed also supports an ego for himself to be a man of his masters only and seldom cares to attend to the public needs. Many a time, the people of the area have reported his nonchalance to higher authorities , but Aftab Ahmad's open claim that he does not fears any minister or MLA is quite evident of his stubborn nature , the wrath of which the public is facing . In a telephonic conversation with the Early Times, Aftab Ahmed also dared to commit that he does not care for the fourth estate. "I keep the ministers in good humour and have no time for the public," he said. " I do not care for the authorities at the helm and also for your media . What do media do? It only publishes news in the evening which is hardly read by any reader in the morning and the paper is stashed into the dustbin," said Aftab Ahmed, an air of ego apparent in his tone. Aftab Ahmed also confessed in the conversation that he is only attending to his higher ups to save his job. "What I have to do with the public works. I am here only for few days and I am waiting for my new posting which is due in my home town at Poonch. There I will see whom to take into my hands and whom to appease," was the bold reply that Aftab gave. Meanwhile, the public of Pouni have requested the concerned minister of RDD and chief minister to look into the misdemeanours of Aftab Ahmad and punish him as per law. |
