As tension continues in valley, Govt offices remain locked | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad
Early Times Report Srinagar, July 13: The government directions to its employees to attend their workplaces failed to generate positive response since most of the offices in valley remained locked on Wednesday. Sources said that in Srinagar district most of the government offices remained locked. "Though some offices opened early in the morning but the employees could not attend their offices due to restrictions imposed by the authorities," said a senior government official. The situation in other districts of the Kashmir valley, where shutdowns and protests had been continuing for the past four days, remained similar. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Asgar Samoon chaired a video-conference with Deputy Commissioners of the region on Monday and it was decided that it was decided that police shall treat identity cards of employees of essential services as "curfew passes" wherever restrictions are imposed by District Magistrates. However the employees said that they face inconvenience to reach their offices without any proper transport facility. "Feroz Ahmad, working in transport department who could not attend his duty from last three days said there was no transport service available. "It is impossible for an employee to walk on foot amid restrictions. Besides forces do not spare employees so it is impossible for us to reach duty," he said Another employee of old town Srinagar said that it is impossible for us to come out of our homes amid so much of restriction. However the officials said that the government has informed transport department to make buses available for employees at several places to ferry them. |
