BJP activists, chamchas attend official meetings | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 13: Resorting to unethical means, the ruling BJP ministers in the coalition government are unauthorizedly taking the party activists and their chamchas along with them to official meetings and discussions on important issues, sources told Early Times on Wednesday. They said these blue eyed political activists and chamchas are not only allowed to sit in the official meetings but several times also offered seat adjacent to the minister for giving a message to the officers present on such occasions. This practice was allegedly stated by a high-profile BJP minister from Kathua district soon after the party came to power in Jammu and Kashmir last year and now the same is being followed by other ministers also for the past few days, sources said. They said this new trend is being witnessed after the controversial weekly sittings of BJP ministers at the party headquarters in Jammu on rational basis for listening to grievances of own functionaries and activists. After the widespread criticism of weekly sitting of BJP ministers at the party office, the fresh move of taking political workers to official meetings has raised many eyebrows. While the opposition parties are terming this practice as unethical and against the spirit of democracy, some officers on the condition of anonymity said that this is shear blackmailing. Sometimes these political functionaries and blue eyed boys of the ministers' approach the officers, directly or indirectly, to favour them for soliciting their praise during official meetings in the presence of the concerned minister, sources explained. Though unconfirmed, reports said that some officers are planning to approach Chief Minister for lodging a formal complaint in this regard against the BJP ministers, who have already been conveyed about reservations over the new trend of allowing party activists in the official meetings. |
