Scrap dealers encroach roads at Tpt Nagar, authorities turn blind eye | | | Arun Singh Early Times Report Jammu, July 13: While some scrap dealers, particularly in yard No 6 of Transport Nagar at Narwal here, have encroached upon the roads, concerned authorities have so far not bothered to either take legal action against them or ask them not to use the road space to dump their articles. According to sources, there are over half a dozen junk dealers in yard No 6 who have allegedly encroached upon the road to dump their articles, causing inconvenience to the businessmen in their vicinity and motorists. Pedestrians too face a lot of problems while passing from there. "Those running their shops in the close vicinity of the encroached roads face problems in dealing with customers," sources said and added that this had badly affected their business. "They have used the road as storage space and junk material, including used vehicles like buses, trucks and cars, litter the area. While businessmen in the neighbourhood of these scrap dealers continue to suffer because of them, the authorities concerned have so far taken no action against them," sources said. Sources said since authorities had not taken cognizance of the complaints made against these scrap dealers from time to time, alleged connivance of some its field employees with them was not ruled out. The scrap dealers were alleged to have encroached upon the nearby lanes and other open space. Some unauthorised rehries were also said to have added to the woes of the businessmen as these "create hindrance to the smooth flow of traffic in the area. Same is the situation in other yards of Transport Nagar," the sources added. |
