Early Times Report

Anantnag, July 16: Evidently throwing Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's directive to winds, Ministers and MLA's from ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) from South Kashmir's Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama districts have failed to hold meetings with civil society members.
Ministers, MLA's and senior leaders of PDP were directed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on July 12 of this month to reach to people and make peace appeals.
Sources said that senior leader and PWD Minister, Ab Rehman Veeri who is camping in South Kashmir's Anantnag district has failed to meet civil society members, senior citizens, preachers and religious heads who can help government in normalizing the situation.
They said that few days ago, PDP Minister conveyed a meeting but none of the civil society member or any other individual other than few blue-eyed political members attended the meeting.
Similarly, Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb A Drabu, who is monitoring situation in Pulwama, CAPD Minister Choudhary Zulfikar is in Shopian and MoS Syed Farooq Andrabi stationed in Kulgam district failed to reach out to people.
"Their failure to reach out to people is worrying trend," a political analyst said. He said that Ministers should have tried to reopen locked offices at district headquarters particularly in those areas which aren't affected by violence.
Most of the officers and employees holding sensitive posts excluding Health Department enjoy life in cozy corridors or have moved out to safer areas.
In Anantnag, surprisingly, a health department vehicle was spotted carrying political workers to Pahalgam. The concerned BMO has kept hotel-rented for Amarnath Yatri pilgrims- at their disposal.
Kashmir has witnessed large scale violence since killing of militant commander Burhan Wani as at least 41 civilians have been killed while over a thousand people have been injured in bullet and pellet firing.
