BTech student among two dead under mysterious circumstances

rajouri, July 16: Two persons including a student of B.Tech reportedly died under in suspicious circumstances in Rajouri district under the jurisdictions of Rajouri and Manajakot Police Station respectively here today. Police sources said that the B.Tech student reportedly died of over dose of the drug while labourer died in an accidental fire from a Village Defence Committee (VDC) gun,
"25 years old B.Tech student was found dead in suspicious circumstances inside his room in Bela Colony in Rajouri town in the early morning hours today, police sources said, adding, "youth identified as Anies Anjum s/o Mohd Taj resident of Bela was pursuing B.Tech from New Delhi and came to Rajouri for Eid Celebrations." Quoting family members, police sources said, "When Anies didn't open the door despite repeated attempts this morning, the family members broke open the door and to their surprise found him lying on the bed in unconscious condition.
"They immediately rushed to nearby hospital where doctor declared him brought dead, sources said.
"After completing legal formalities including postmortem, the body was handed over to family members, police sources said .
Pertinent to mention the youth has been engaged with a Thanamndi based girl during a family function held some three months ago and both families were preparing for the marriage ceremony but Anies's sudden death has shattered the dreams of both families. Sources added family members are refuted the allegations of drug use and claimed it was a natural death. "Whether the deceased had taken over dose of the drug, had committed suicide or it was a natural death is a matter of investigation and depends upon the postmortem report. However, police initially have started inquest proceeding under 174CrPC to establish the facts" said Chaman Gorkha, SHO, Rajouri. Meanwhile In another incident one Naresh Kumar s/o Dev Raj resident of village Patrara under the jurisdiction of Manjakot police station died due to gun shot inside his room at about 9 pm on Friday . "Today at about 5.45 am, Chowkidar of Patrara village informed the Manjakot police about an accidental fire from VDC gun resulting in the death of a Naresh Kumar s/o Dev Raj on late Friday night at around 9:00pm," police sources said. "Although family members are claiming the incident as an accidental fire, sources said, adding, "after legal formalities performed on the spot police have seized the VDC gun along with two empty rounds." "Initial physical on spot verification established that the fire from the VDC gun first hit the back side of the deceased and it is not possible to commit suicide by firing from .303 gun from back side, police said. It was a suspicious death and police have started inquest proceedings" said concerned inspector Mohd Younis, SHO.
