NGEU token strike enters 34th day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 25: The ongoing token strike of four hours of Non-Gazetted Employees Union (NGEU), University of Jammu (JU) entered 34th day today. The protesting employees raised slogans in favour of demands and against the University authorities. The gathering was addressed by Vijay Kumar, President of the Union, who lauded the unity of the employees which stood like a rock during this sweltering heat in the protest. He regretted that instead of solving the issues the University Authorities are hell bent in anti-employees propaganda in the public and higher authorities regarding our peaceful agitation. He denounced a "No Work No Pay" order of the Vice-Chancellor, as the employees are on token strike of four hours and there is no-lock-out of the offices and warned authorities to solve the burning issues at the earliest. Later on, in the executive body meeting, it was decided that the mess staff of the hostels and safai karamcharies will also join the strike from tomorrow onwards. Suresh Sharma, State President J&K People Democratic Trade Union Jammu while addressing the employees appreciated their patience and urged upon them to continue their protest peacefully without any provocation. He lamented the inefficient handling of the issues of the employees and held Vice-Chancellor personally responsible for this situation. |
