Kashmir unrest forces Mantri to visit ladies beauty parlour for hair cut | | | Hyder Ali Early Times Report Srinagar, July 25: Apprehending trouble for visiting hair saloon for men in restive Kashmir, a minister from the ruling-Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) got his haircut done from a ladies beauty parlour lest the male customers at the other shop target him. Even as some haircut shops in residential colonies have been operating during the ongoing unrest in Kashmir, the minister "strategically opted" for a ladies beauty parlour. Though the ladies beauty parlours have been shut for all these days of turmoil, official sources said, the minister approached one such outlet persuading them to keep the parlour secretly open for him and that he was willing to pay additional charges. Official sources said the parlour was asked to arrange a male hairstylist for the minister in a posh locality here. Witnesses said on reaching the parlour, operating from a residential house, the minister got down from his vehicle and ran straight into the beauty parlour. However no female was present there during the minister's visit. Outside the parlour cabin, his escort and road deployment party of police remained on alert. Sources in police said the minister was fascinated to see the stylish equipment and cosmetics inside the ladies beauty parlour and wished he could avail all the services. Sources said though minister had come for simple haircut, looking at the gadgets, he at once sought multiple makeup treatments including facial, steam and massage. It was reliably learnt that the minister pointed towards a cream that it be used for his "diamond facial" but he was left dejected to learn that it a hair removing wax used by ladies. Sources close to the minister said he found the beauty parlour for women more attractive than the one used by men. Official sources said as the minister spent some good two hours to improve his looks he was finally informed by his escort staff that spending more time at the "odd location" could invite trouble as "situation was tense outside." And this was when he decided to "cut-short" the makeup session. "I think Sahib would otherwise spent the full day there," an official privy to the makeup told Early Times on the condition of anonymity. Family sources said the minister shared the experience back home stating that women beauty parlours are well aided as compared to the one used by men.Despite repeated attempts the minister could not be contacted for comments. |
